Sarah Portanka, Engagement Editor
Sarah Portanka is a junior studying journalism and media with a minor in advertising and public relations. She joined the Beacon in the fall of 2023 as a freshman and has loved every moment since. With a long-standing love for writing and creative media, Sarah is passionate about using student journalism as a voice to share stories that often go untold. When she isn’t in the basement of the communications building, Sarah can be found at a coffee shop, watching UT sports, thrifting or exploring outdoors. Sarah hopes everyone can turn to the Beacon as a legitimate local news source, whether it’s by reading the weekly paper or simply following the Instagram.
