It’s a busy week for the Lady Vols, headlined by conference play. Football also returns home this week to checker Neyland in a rivalry night game.
Oct. 10: Men’s and women’s tennis at the ITA Regional Championships
Tennessee will travel to Indiana for the ITA Regional Championships. It’s been a while since the men’s team hit the court, last competing in September at the ITA All-American Championships.
The Lady Vols wrapped up play at the Women of Troy Invitational last weekend, winning seven matches. There’s little time for rest, however, since they ship out to Murfreesboro to compete in the ITA Regional Championships over the weekend.
Oct. 10: Soccer at Arkansas
The Lady Vols will hit the road to face the No. 6 ranked Arkansas Razorbacks in Fayetteville. Arkansas was recently knocked from the No. 1 spot after a surprising loss to Mississippi State last week.
Tennessee is 14-7 all-time against Arkansas but has struggled against the Razorbacks recently. Sitting at 1-3 in their last four meetings, the Lady Vols will look to turn the page and attempt to upset Arkansas.
Oct 11: Women’s golf at Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational
The women’s golf team will head to Chapel Hill to compete in the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational. The Lady Vols haven’t seen action since September 24th, when they finished third in the Cavalier Classic. This tournament will feature 17 teams and three days of matches.
Oct 11: Softball vs. Tusculum
The Lady Vols will continue their fall slate at home after a 6-4 win over the Kentucky Wildcats. McKenna Gibson sealed the win, walking the game off with a two-run blast. With three fall games left, expect Tennessee to keep experimenting with its roster in preparation for the spring
Oct 12: Football vs. Florida
Tennessee will return home to Neyland Stadium to host the 3-2 Florida Gators on Saturday, fresh off a devastating loss to unranked Arkansas. Meanwhile, Florida is slowly building momentum, defeating UCF last week in a two-score win. Tennessee needs to win this game to stay in contention for the College Football Playoffs at the end of the season.
The Vols are 1-6 against the Gators in their last seven matchups, but they managed to squeak out a win the last time they played at Neyland. Expect the Vols to be aggressive in this game after they were heavily criticized for their conservative play last week.
Oct. 13: Soccer vs. Auburn — “T-Credit” opportunity
Soccer’s home matchup will have the only “T-Credit” opportunity of the week. Students who attend before 1:45 PM will earn one credit.
As the season winds down, every game counts. The Lady Vols will be tested by the No. 14 ranked Auburn. The Tigers are 11-1-1 this year and are big favorites in this match. Tennessee is 13-11 against the Tigers, including a loss to them last year.
Oct. 13: Volleyball at Missouri
After a dominant victory over Mississippi State, Tennessee volleyball aims to improve on its 2-2 SEC record. The Lady Vols have been excellent at home, posting a 5-1 record but are a mere 4-4 on the road. They still have plenty of time to turn this around, with 12 games remaining on the schedule.
Tennessee is 10-11 against Missouri historically, but they’re currently on a three-game win streak. Tennessee needs a big win on the road to start building a win streak again.
Oct. 13: Softball vs. King
Softball will round out the week when they host the King Tornado. Don’t expect a thrilling matchup, since the Tornado finished barely above .500 last season in Division II. The Lady Vols will continue to get prepared for the spring season and test out some new faces on the diamond.
