The Provost’s Honors Banquet April 11 honored students, alumni, faculty and staff in the areas of academic and service excellence.
Lindsay Levkoff was presented with the Volunteer of the Year Award, which is given to a rising senior. The Whittle Scholar founded the Hispanic and Cultural Outreach Program.
Michelle Blackwell, Betty Bradley and Lydia Jurand received Excellence in Advising Awards.
Marianne Breinig, Srinivasan Mahadevan, Baldwin Lee, Amadou Sall, William Seaver and William Schleter were honored for Excellence in Teaching.
The Jefferson Prize, which honors the principles of the nation’s third president, was awarded to Dorothy Habel, John Rehder and Dean Hill Rivkin.
The Women of Achievement Awards, which honor a student, faculty member and staff member who have improved the status of women on campus, were given to Cheryl Travis, Nancy McGlasson and Lyndsey Hornbuckle.
Carolyn Hodges was presented with the Angie Warren Perkins Award that is given to a female faculty member who has demonstrated excellence in teaching, scholarship and leadership.
The Hardy Liston Jr. Symbol of Hope Award, which recognizes outstanding, proactive contributions made through serving the educational community and for the promotion of cultural diversity at UT, was given to Ronald B. McFadden.
Richard Townsend was presented with the L.R. Hesler Award for outstanding teaching, a genuine concern for students and excellence in research and scholarship.
The Graduate Teaching Awards were given to Mark Hosford, Nancy Meyer-Adams and Joey Shaw.
Hank Dye and Tandy Wilson III received citations for significant contributions to the university as alumni and friends of the institution.
Charity Smith and Porche Wynn received student citations for Extraordinary Community Service.
