The United States of America is turning 250 years old this upcoming Fourth of July, and Knoxville will be filled with many ways to celebrate. A variety of events, free and paid, will occur to honor this quarter millennium.
All events listed will occur on the Fourth of July.
Free events
Festival on the Fourth – World’s Fair Park
Celebrate the Fourth of July in the heart of Knoxville at World’s Fair Park. From 5 p.m. to 7:55 p.m., bluegrass band “Dirty Grass Soul” will perform on the festival lawn stage. At 8 p.m., Knoxville Symphony Orchestra will perform on the performance stage lawn. Fireworks begin around 9:45 p.m.
Farragut Independence Day Parade
Visit Farragut to enjoy floats, dancers, bands, antique cars and more from 9:30 a.m. to noon. The parade begins at the Farragut High School junior lot and proceeds down Lendon Welch Way, and it continues to Boring Road.
James White’s Fort Celebration of the 4th
Presented by the Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution, Knoxville’s first home honors the military and signers of the Declaration of Independence from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the courtyard.
Paid events
Enjoy the fireworks from Knoxville’s Festival on the Fourth from inside the iconic Sunsphere. From 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., enjoy stunning views of Knoxville, fireworks and catered food for $31.16 per person.
The Mabry-Hazen House is hosting an old-fashioned celebration from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Mabry Hill overlooks downtown Knoxville to the west and the Great Smoky Mountains to the south, offering a view of fireworks and nature. The celebration will take place across the seven acres of Mabry’s Hill, including live music, self-guided tours through the historic house museum, games, drinks and food. Pre-sale ticket prices for ages 16-plus are $15, ages five to 15 are $5, and ages under five get in free. Pre-sale tickets end on the Fourth of July, and a limited number of tickets will be available at the door.
Knoxville Smokies vs. Columbus Clingstones
Even though it is not a designated Fourth of July celebration, the Knoxville Smokies play against the Columbus Clingstones at Covenant Health Park at 7 p.m. on Independence Day. The game will have the usual baseball festivities and the home game fireworks.
From an old-fashioned celebration of freedom to a party in the Sunsphere, Knoxville has a Fourth of July event for everyone.
