Are you a fantasy lover, book lover, coffee drinker or all three? If so, consider coming out on Saturday for Fable Hollow Coffee and Bookshoppe’s very first fall festival. It’s Fall Family Weekend, after all.
Fable Hollow Bookshoppe is a new bookstore in the Knoxville area that opened in February 2023. It is co-owned by Casey Jessen and Alyssa Stewart. Other than selling books and coffee, they also have book clubs and hold events for the community, such as children’s book readings and potion-making classes.
Though their shop is fantasy-themed, they carry books in other genres as well. They have a wide selection of books including popular fantasy romances like “Fourth Wing” by Rebecca Yarros and “A Court of Thorns and Roses” by Sarah J. Maas.
There is also a good selection of children’s books such as “The Monster at the End of This Book” by Jon Stone and Michael Smollin. New releases featured in the store include the popular Webtoon-turned-graphic novel “Hooky” by Miriam Bonastre Tur and sci-fi fantasy “Nona the Ninth” by Tamsyn Muir.
The store offers original merchandise in the form of hoodies and t-shirts featuring the store’s logo. They also have an exclusive membership, “The Knighthood,” which gives customers perks and discounts on store items.
The weekend has always been a time of relaxation, especially for weary students who have spent late nights studying and working hard. Attending a fall festival can be a great way to relax.
At Saturday’s event, there will be food trucks including Taco Mafia and Chef Scott’s Southern Comfort, as well as plenty of vendors. Some vendors included in the lineup are Jade Elf Emporium, Mossyfoot Studio and Fog Barrow.
The Owl Ridge Raptor Center will also be having an educational showing at 11 a.m., so if you’re a bird lover, consider coming out on Saturday. There are plenty of activities for adults and kids alike, such as a kid’s coloring activity and fall treats.
Jessen, co-owner of the bookstore, explained that vendors were chosen based on the shop’s customer base.
“We chose vendors based on whether we thought our normal customer base would like their wares,” Jessen said. “All of them have whimsical, hand-made crafts that we know our fantasy lovers will enjoy.”
Jessen also said their reason for holding the festival comes from a love of the fall season.
“We love fall and wanted a reason to celebrate and enjoy the season to the fullest,” Jessen said. “No better place to love fall than a coffee and bookshop.”
Through this event, they are hoping to “bring the community together,” according to Stewart, the other co-owner of Fable Hollow. She said they have plans on repeating this in the following years, as well as plans for many other fun community events.
“We plan on having this annually, so next year it may be even bigger,” Stewart said.
She also said they have some exciting events to come this Halloween and Christmas.
Fable Hollow has a lot in store for fantasy, book and coffee lovers all around, so if you get a chance, consider stopping by. The owners have big plans for this store.
