While May’s festivities are ending, June has many events to take advantage of. Many of the following events are in early June, so make sure to purchase tickets as soon as possible. Whether you are looking for fun ways to exercise or other activities to do, these 10 activities will fulfill your summer fun.
Goat yoga
Starting June 1, the Pygmy Harbor Farm is hosting goat yoga. This is a fun and unique way to relieve some stress or just hang out with these playful animals. The goats are pygmy goats which are naturally made for yoga due to their light and friendly personalities. They may hop on your back or just cuddle on your yoga mat alongside you. Art exhibition
The Bottom is hosting an art exhibition June 1 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Downtown Knoxville. The Bottom is a neighborhood that experienced destruction due to urban redevelopment but continues to rebuild what it lost. The Bottom is working with other cultural organizations like Good Black Art to create visual representations of the Black community in East Tennessee.
Thyme for Herbs event
The University of Tennessee Gardens at Crossville is hosting an herb informational event June 1 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. There, you will learn about several types of herbs, their benefits and how to grow them. Keep in mind that this event is at the UT Gardens Crossville location.
Paddle classes
The Chota Canoe Club presents paddle training classes from June 1 through June 2. You learn how to tread the water correctly while enjoying a scenic view of the Cove at Concord Park. Check out their website to register and know what materials to bring so that you are prepared for a fun day on the water.
Sports Animal SportsFest
The Sports Animal SportsFest is on June 1 at the Knoxville Expo Center. There are numerous sports presented at this event. You will get the opportunity to have your picture taken with a sports figure as well as to receive autographs.
Mead’s Quarry Big Fun Tuesdays
On June 4, Mead’s Quarry is hosting Big Fun Tuesdays from 6-8:30 p.m. This is a recurring event that takes place every first Tuesday of the month. There will be live music and local food trucks. You can rent a kayak or paddleboard, go on a trail, or swim in the lake. This is a great idea for a hot summer day.
TRECS bootcamp fitness class
Another physical activity is bootcamp at TRECS on June 6 from 7-7:45 a.m. Additional events hosted by TRECS include cardio kickboxing, group strength and power yoga. Check out the UTK calendar to find more information.
Father’s Day cruise
If you are looking for ways to spend Father’s Day, the Star of Knoxville Riverboat is hosting a Father’s Day cruise June 16. This is a nice gift for your dad to enjoy the boat ride down the Tennessee River. There will also be a buffet including barbecue chicken and pork.
Knoxville Brewfest
On June 22, World’s Fair Park Lake is having Knoxville Brewfest from 1-4 p.m. and from 6-9 p.m. For those who are of age, bring your friends to tailgate. Make sure to visit their website to get your tickets because it is first come, first serve. This Knoxville event is beneficial, as the money goes to support those who have Duchenne, a disease that causes muscle weakness.
Bike rides around Knoxville
Printshop Beer Co. is having weekly bike rides through Knoxville. This occurs every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. until Oct. 26. This is a great opportunity to sightsee the Knoxville area while getting exercise.
