Tennessee track and field spread out across the country over the weekend, competing on three stages: the Tom Jones Invitational in Florida, the Wake Forest Invitational in North Carolina, and the Bryan Clay Invitational meet in Azusa, California.
Tom Jones Invitational in Florida
The women dominated the sprints. The women’s 4×100 meter, run by Lauren Jarrett, Dana Wilson, Avia Jones and Cydney Wright, clocked a season best of 43.01 seconds, finishing third overall in the event, which is sixth in the nation and fourth in program history.
In the 4×400 meter with Javonya Valcourt, Maira Scott, Wright and Esther Joseph, they also succeeded with a season best of 3:24.96 seconds, making it the No. 2 time in school history.
On the individual side, Valcourt was just shy of a personal best with her third-place time of 50.86 seconds in the 400-meter, making it fifth nationally in the outdoor season. Lauren Jarrett placed fifth, a personal best at 11.06 seconds in the 100-meter, tying for No. 3 in program history and 12th nationally. Wilson broke the freshman school record at 11.14 seconds for the Vols, marking her at No. 8 on the all-time list. Meanwhile, Ka’Myya Haywood recorded a personal record with a time of 2:01.97 seconds, seventh in program history.
On the men’s track side, Andre Jackson II clocked in 45.86 seconds in the 400 meters — a personal best that now ranks No. 7 in program history. In the 400-meter hurdles, Marc Anthony Ibrahim lowered his season best to 49.53 seconds, which is fourth in the country for the outdoor season and No. 8 in Tennessee history. Truanard Folson finished second overall in the 200-meter, tying him for third in rankings for the outdoor season.
In the field events, Ismaila Sawaneh earned first place with his jump of 5.70 meters — not only third in school history, but it ties him for third in the outdoor season. Wesley Badenhorst placed first in the discus with a personal best of 57.86 meters, which is No. 9 in program history. Aidan Ifkovits threw a third consecutive personal record in men’s hammer throw at 66.00 meters, taking first place and becoming the No. 7 hammer thrower in school history.
Wake Forest Invitational in North Carolina
The women’s distance squad delivered a standout weekend of its own in North Carolina.
In the 1500-meter, Mary Nyaboke Ogwoka continues to rewrite the record books, lowering her own Tennessee freshman record once again with a time of 4:08.86 seconds while taking fifth in the event. The 3000-meter steeplechase belonged to Tula Fawbush, as she set a personal record by 14 seconds, ending with 10:10.18 on the clock in seventh place. It ranks No. 2 in Lady Vol history and No. 22 on the 2026 NCAA Division I national list.
Jaci Sievers added to the momentum in the 5000-meter race, placing 10th overall with a personal best of 16:29.12 seconds. For the men’s side, Carter Knox’s 800-meter run placed him in fourth overall with a time of 1:49.44.
Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, California
In the 5,000-meter, Ethan Edgeworth set a personal record at 13:37.13 seconds with a new No. 3 ranking in Tennessee history and 10th overall. Zouhair Redouane ran his first 10k race and had a personal best of more than 90 seconds at 28:27.95, third in program history.
The Vols will continue their season at the Tiger Track Classic in Auburn, Alabama, on Saturday, April 25.
