LEXINGTON, Ky. — Three weeks after a dramatic 17-point blown lead, Tennessee basketball has a chance to get back on the right side of the series.
On Jan. 17 in Food City Center, the Vols collapsed. A 41-24 lead disintegrated as Collin Chandler read Tennessee’s play like a book with 34 seconds remaining, leading to an Otega Oweh layup through contact for the Wildcats’ first lead of the game. It served as an eye-opening loss for the now 25th-ranked Vols.
Tennessee has won four games in a row. The most recent included a second-half explosion on Tuesday to overcome Ole Miss, where Nate Ament scored 26 of his 28 points over the final 20.
Kentucky has won four of the last five games since its chaotic win in Knoxville. Oweh has been the driving force — averaging 21.8 points per game during the stretch. He has posted four consecutive 20-plus point outings for the Wildcats.

Rick Barnes said he would know when it is time to retire. That time has come. We have now blown double digit leads against Kentucky twice this year and lost four in a row. It’s time. His lifetime contract and his age should now seem to be in balance.
