Tennessee 77, Auburn 69
Some familiar faces will be in the building as Tennessee basketball looks to stay hot.
The Vols welcome coach Steven Pearl and his Auburn Tigers to Food City Center for some primetime Saturday night basketball, a homecoming for the former Tennessee guard in his first year as a head coach. Following in his father’s footsteps, this iteration of a Pearl-led Auburn team is the winner of four straight games, carrying a 15-7 record into the proceedings. The Vols have a similar track record in their last handful, emerging on the good side of a pair of back-to-back road outings to get themselves back into contention in the SEC.
Forward Keyshawn Hall paces the Tigers, racking up 20.9 points per game while grabbing 7.4 boards. Thought to be a budding star a year ago, sophomore Tahaad Pettiford has seen a bit of a drop in his production in this campaign. The guard averages 13.4 points per contest, shooting 36.3% from the field.
Tennessee will be without center Felix Okpara due to a left calf injury. It will be the first time in the 6-foot-11 rim protector’s Tennessee tenure that he will be sidelined.
