Those interested in trying out their voices in front of an audience should
check out UT Dining’s Karaoke Night.
Morrill Dining will play host to its very first Karaoke Night at 6 p.m. on
Thursday. Students can sing to a variety of familiar music from the ’70s
and ’80s, said Gina Mills, marketing manager of UT Dining Services.
“I always try to do special events which are different from the norm,” said
Tim McWilliams, manager of Morrill Dining. “I would like to make (Karaoke
Night) an annual event.”
“We just want students to come by and eat, enjoy, sit back and listen or
participate,” Mills said. “If someone just wants to sing, they can come by
at any time, but if they want to be in the contest, they need to be there
at six.”
Prizes include Ober Gatlinburg lift tickets, Graceland tickets and gift
certificates to K-mart and Target. The grand prize is a personal compact
disc player, she said. Depending on the number of participants, T-shirts
will be given to each contestant.
“It’s an opportunity for students to showcase their talent in front of
their friends,” McWilliams said.
Free samples of Powerade will be given from 4:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. The event
is free to all students and no registration is needed.
Another Morrill Dining experience includes “Dine with the (Grateful) Dead
Night,” which will be held on Nov. 30.
