1. Neyland Stadium: Attending a game at Neyland with 102,000 roaring fans is a must do if want to experience what being a Vol truly means. The electrifying atmosphere cannot compete with any other place in Tennessee or the SEC.
2. Ayres Hall: UT’s most recognizable building is Ayres Hall, so it’s something everyone needs to visit at least one time while on campus. Upon entering, you’ll also notice it’s one of the most beautiful buildings on campus with its marble floors and mahogany riddled rooms.
3. Party houses: If you are asking why we would suggest something so broad, then you’ve never experienced the Fort’s night scene. Knoxville is known for its party scene, and the Fort is no exception. Walk through the Fort after a Vols win, and you’ll find yourself running into a party every third house. You’ll also find yourself stumbling upon scorched furniture because we love to burn anything and everything after a Vols win. The Fort’s night scene is a must do if you want experience what college is all about … on the weekend.
4.TRECS: The university has gifted us with a very nice recreation center, take advantage of it! If you want to work out, then it’s the place to go. If you want to play a quick game of racquetball or soccer, then it’s the place to go. If you ever find yourself stuck in your dorm on a Saturday night take a visit to the TRECS and jump into one of the many basketball games being played.
5. 21st Street Goodwill: You may be asking why a store such a Goodwill is on our list, but it’s a hidden gem in Knoxville that everyone should know about. Whether you’re in need of a blazer for some sort of fraternal obligation or you just want to buy a few inexpensive shirts, Goodwill on 21st has it all.
6.The Original Copper Cellar: Copper Cellar is a staple of Knoxville. Their wide selection of burgers and authentic brews makes guy’s/gal’s night out so much better. Plan a trip to the Copper Cellar on a Wednesday so you can try their $5 burgers.
P.S. Head downstairs for your meal for an even better experience.
7. Stefano’s Pizza: If you love Chicago style pizza and an authentic environment, then Stefano’s is the place to spend your Friday night. Their pizza alone will make your mouth salivate just looking at it. Also, they have some pretty rad arcade machines.
8. Twisted Taco: Located in Fred Brown Hall, Twisted Taco was a pleasant surprise when it opened due to UT dining’s reputation for mediocre food. It’s fairly inexpensive, provides student’s with a unique Tex-Mex dining experience, and doesn’t taste like a frozen meal. Stop by and try their Hills Chicken tacos.
9. McClung Museum: Most college kids couldn’t care less about a museum, but how many can say they have one on campus? McClung Museum is free to the public with anthropology, archaeology, decorative arts, local history and natural history exhibits. If you want a break from the stresses that come with midterms or finals, take a dive into the past.
10. Howard Baker Center: The Baker Center is UT’s public policy building located on Cumberland. Now, we know most students don’t care for politics, but this building is one of the most beautiful buildings, inside and out, on campus. If you have the time, take a stop by it to admire the beauty.
