Delta Sigma Pi, a professional business fraternity on campus, will be holding its rush at 6 p.m. tomorrow and Thursday in the Crest Room of the University Center.
The purpose of Delta Sig, which is open to both genders, is to foster the study of business, and to encourage scholarship and higher commercial ethics.
President Priya Sahasaid the organization is meant to enhance the business skills of its members.
Delta Sig helps develops professional business skills beyond the classroom, Saha said.
Members routinely take tours and hear lectures from area businesses like Kimberly Clark and Circuit City.
Many of our alumni come back and offer members jobs because they know we are serious about our craft, Saha said.
The Alpha Zeta chapter of Delta Sig was established in 1924 and currently has 30 members. It emphasizes professional, social and community service events.
According to Saha, some of the more popular events are the formal and projects with the Ronald McDonald House, the organization’s philanthropy.
We also help coordinate events like the Career Fair with the College of Business, Saha said.
Every semester members submit their schedules to Delta Sig so fellow brothers can contact them to form study groups. A test bank is also available.
I’m really proud of what Delta Sig has done for students, Saha said. I know it has helped me a great deal. I’ve gained so much experience and initiative.
Requirements to become a member of Delta Sig is to have a 2.75 G.P.A, to be a business major and at least a second semester freshman.
Dress for the first day of rush is professional. Friday dress should be business casual.
