Saturday’s Senior Night celebration will be the final time Brandon Lopez steps onto the court of Thompson-Boling Arena.
Despite having another year of eligibility after missing the entire season because of injury, Tennessee head coach Donnie Tyndall stated on Friday that the senior guard will likely not return to Tennessee next season.
“He’s a guy who will graduate and then will have a decision on whether or not he will go somewhere else and play or get his career started,” the first-year head coach said. “I don’t think he’ll come back here just because school is so expensive.”
Despite being a senior, Lopez could continue his collegiate career by applying for a medical redshirt based off the torn ACL he suffered on July 26, 2014 that has caused him to miss the entirety of the 2014-15 season.
Lopez, who is a Knoxville native that graduated from Austin-East High School, played in 31 games in his four-year career as a walk-on, tallying five points, eight assists, 13 rebounds and three steals.
