The Daily Beacon sports podcast is back with a new name. “In The Zone” is the new, official sports podcast of The Daily Beacon.
“In The Zone” will feature weekly content with The Daily Beacon’s sports staff talking about everything Tennessee and college athletics. In episode one, sports editors Caleb Jarreau and Eric Woods as well as staff writer Jack Church sit down to recap the Vols’ loss to Florida.
They also talk about Alabama’s quarterback situation, Missouri’s upset of Kansas State and what is happening with Georgia.

Despite the subpar performance from the Vols on Saturday, Tennessee has trust in quarterback Joe Milton III going forward.
Milton finished Saturday night in The Swamp 20-of-34 passing with an interception and a couple of touchdowns. The on-field play wasn’t what impressed offensive coordinator Joey Halzle the most on Saturday.
The demeanor of Milton on the sideline — in a very rowdy Ben Hill Griffin Stadium — with his poise and leadership stood out to Milton.
“The guy’s really even-keeled. His decision-making is really good,” Halzle said. “Was accurate with the football, like the guy played a good game, was happy with that. Obviously, we can always be better. We can be pushing our communication for how we all get on the same page in an environment like that.”
Tennessee faces off with UTSA in Neyland Stadium on Saturday. The Vols will look to get their momentum and confidence back against UTSA.
“Now, what we have to do as a staff and the players on the field when that happens, everyone’s settled down,” Halzle said. “That doesn’t mean it has to happen on the next drive. And if it had to on two drives, it doesn’t have to happen on the third drive. Reset, settle down, fall into the game and we know how to do this. We know how to operate. You saw it Saturday night in the second half when we stopped doing that.”
