Something that challenges many students during the end of the fall semester is the question of whether or not they should go home for Thanksgiving or Christmas. Some students live far away from home during their college years, and it just doesn’t make sense for them to go home for every holiday.
Regardless of that, every student should get the opportunity to eat Thanksgiving-style food during the holiday break. There are several restaurants in Knoxville this year that are offering a Thanksgiving menu on the holiday for dine-in or to-go.
The Oliver Royale will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thanksgiving. They have created a three-course menu for Thanksgiving that costs $79 per person. While that may be a steep price for some students, it may be less than what a person would spend at the grocery store to make their own Thanksgiving meal.
2. Chesapeake’s
The West Knoxville location of Chesapeake’s will offer a holiday buffet this Thanksgiving from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. While Chesapeake’s is a seafood restaurant, they are tweaking their menu to make it more Thanksgiving-themed for the holiday. So, if a person is craving seafood this Thursday, they ought to swing by the Chesapeake’s on Parkside Drive and pick up some food from the buffet.
3. Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant and Grill
Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant and Grill in Sevierville is offering their annual Thanksgiving feast on Thursday for $32.99 per adult. This will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., so a student could drive up for either Thanksgiving lunch or dinner. The flier on the website lists 15 items that are available to eat at this feast, but customers are always welcome to ask their server what else Applewood is serving.
Cracker Barrel is an off-the-highway classic that is always open for takeout on Thanksgiving, with a year-round menu that matches the vibes of the holiday. The menu is on their website, and the food is available to preorder and pick up on Thanksgiving. They have options for smaller gatherings, personal plates or large gatherings. Maybe all the students who stayed in Knoxville for Thanksgiving could order a large platter and eat it together, emulating the family dinner they may be missing at home.
Reservations are required for this meal, but Fleming’s Steakhouse is offering a three-course meal to their customers, as well, this Thanksgiving. The price of this meal is $56 per person and will take place starting at 11 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day. Fleming’s offers three kinds of main courses for these reservations: turkey, filet mignon and bone-in ribeye steak. In case a person does not like turkey, they can choose one of the other options and still enjoy their Thanksgiving meal.
6. Corner 16
The Northshore location of Corner 16 is open on Thanksgiving from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and will serve its normal menu, including burgers, chicken tenders, salads and wings. These are just a few of the items on their menu, but it is classic American-style food that a person may find in a sports bar atmosphere. If someone is looking to eat at a restaurant for Thanksgiving but doesn’t necessarily enjoy typical Thanksgiving food, this is the restaurant for them.
Smoky Mountain Brewery off of Parkside Drive will be available for Thanksgiving dinner from 2-11 p.m. This restaurant is another classic take on American food without a special Thanksgiving menu. They do have a host of televisions in the restaurant, so a person who is eating their Thanksgiving meal there could watch Thanksgiving Day football matchups while enjoying their food.
