Jonathan Ramsey Hasford, an associate professor of marketing in the Haslam College of Business, had his charges dismissed after his recent arrest for aggravated domestic assault.

These felony charges against Hasford were dismissed in court on May 1.

According to the police report, the incident occurred on March 17, during which Hasford was said to have intentionally choked his girlfriend “to the point where she couldn’t breathe.”

The report also stated that Hasford had been drinking prior to the incident.

“He is now going to be able to move on with his life after we successfully defended the allegations against him,” T. Scott Jones, Hasford’s defense attorney, said. “He is ready to put this unfortunate chapter behind him and use the lessons associated with the same as a positive to reinforce his belief in the American system of justice.”

Jones also said that Hasford is “grateful for the support of the students, faculty and friends of the University of Tennessee.”

Hasford was placed on paid leave by the university on March 20, and there is no current information about his potential return.
