The Tennessee men’s basketball team will be down another player heading into the 2019-20 season.
On Tuesday night, guard Jordan Bone announced his intentions to keep his name in the 2019 NBA Draft, opting for his shot at the pros over returning to UT for his senior season.
Bone made a video announcement via his Twitter account.
“The announcement that I have to make today is that I will keep my name in the 2019 NBA Draft,” Bone said in the video. “ It’s always been my dream as a kid, and I have the utmost confidence moving forward.
The love and appreciation I have for Vol nation is something that will never go away and I will always cherish.”
Bone made the decision to enter the draft on April 3 after a successful junior campaign where he helped lead the Vols to a Sweet Sixteen appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
A native of Nashville, Bone came to Knoxville as part of Rick Barnes’ 2016 recruiting class. This past season, Bone shot better than 46 percent and averaged 13.5 points, 5.8 assists and 3.2 rebounds.
Bone’s career high scoring mark came against Kentucky on March 2 where he tallied 27 points in a convincing 71-52 Tennessee win.
Among Bone’s achievements during the 2018-19 season were reaching 215 assists, making him third all-time in that category in program history, as well as making All-SEC second team selection and being named a Bob Cousy National Point Guard of the Year finalist.
According to a Sports Illustrated NBA mock draft earlier this month, Bone was rated as high as a No. 54 overall pick.
Bone will join fellow teammates Admiral Schofield and Grant Williams in the draft. Williams announced his decision to stay in the draft and forgo his senior season last Friday.
