OLE MISS
20 and counting
The Rebels reached the 20-win mark quicker than any other SEC school this year with 20 wins in only 24 games, which was also faster than any other Rebel squad in history.
Ole Miss (21-4) has collected 20 wins in four of the last five seasons and they’re finally getting some respect. However, that respect will be tested tonight when the Rebels travel to No. 7 Florida for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
The Rebels climbed up in the top-25 this week for a No. 12 ranking in the Associated Press poll and they are on a six-game winning streak. Not to mention that Mississippi is standing tall in the SEC Western Division, one full game ahead of second-place Alabama.
ALABAMA
Ridin’ the wave
After the Crimson Tide’s 86-67 victory over Ohio State on Saturday, Bama now has its first 20-win campaign since 1995 when it finished 23-10.
As for the rest of the SEC, don’t expect them to leave Tuscaloosa with a W’ either. The Tide stand at 15-0 at home this year, extending their home winning streak to 18.
Alabama is 20-5 overall this year and 8-4 in the SEC Western Division, right behind Ole Miss. The No. 14 Tide travel across the state to visit rival Auburn tonight at 7 p.m.
KENTUCKY
Hail to the Prince
Tayshaun Prince scorched the nets last week en route to his second SEC Player of the Week honor in three weeks.
Prince lit up Tennessee for 30 points in the Cats’ 103-95 victory over the Vols on Feb. 14, marking the first Kentucky player to score 30 points in a game since December 1998.
Saturday, Prince burned Vanderbilt for 27 points, nine boards, five assists and three blocks in UK’s 79-74 win over the Commodores. Prince scored 16 of his 27 in the last 8:12 to hold off a late Vandy comeback.
Prince is averaging 16.4 points and six board per game heading into tonight’s matchup with LSU.
