SEC student-athlete availability report: Tennessee football injury status ahead of Oklahoma

Tennessee football’s first injury designation report was released Wednesday night.

As part of a new mandate by the SEC, each team must release an initial injury report ahead of each conference matchup. With the Vols heading to Oklahoma for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff on Saturday, it means both have to submit an injury report.

With this, teams are required to provide a status update the Wednesday prior to each league game. Each designation will come with a tag: Available, probable, questionable, doubtful or out on the reports. On game day, the tags change to available, game-time decision or out.

A report must be submitted on Thursday and Friday, with the final notice coming 90 minutes before kickoff.

Here is how Tennessee looks on the status forefront ahead of Oklahoma on Saturday.

Offensive tackle Lance Heard: Questionable

Lance Heard missed his first game of the season against Kent State.

After hobbling a bit against NC State two weeks ago, it was out of precautionary measure to hold Heard from the contest against an inferior opponent.

With Oklahoma ahead, expect the LSU transfer to be available.

Offensive lineman Shamurad Umarov: OUT

Shamurad Umarov was injured late against Kent State, needing medical attention to be helped off the field.

The redshirt freshman lineman has been a reserve piece that has filled in as the backup right guard.

Defensive back John Slaughter: OUT

A piece in Tennessee’s secondary, John Slaughter has been in the rotation in the room.

On Saturday, Slaughter recovered the Vols’ surprise onside kick in the first quarter.
