The highly anticipated two-story Taco Bell on Cumberland Avenue has a new official opening date — Tuesday, Nov. 18, more than 3 weeks past the original opening date.

“The store will open on the 18th,” Tacala Companies Regional Vice President Jessie Graham said in an email.

Tacala had initially scheduled the grand opening for Oct. 27, according to communication from Jacqueline Dorris, marketing correspondent and community manager for Tacala Companies.

Although it’s set to be the first two-story Taco Bell in the Knoxville area, Tacala Companies does not plan to immediately use the second level of the restaurant.

“As of now there is no plans for the upstairs,” Graham said. “We will know after the first of the year how we will use the upstairs.”

Plans for the second floor had been thought to include extra seating for customers.

“This restaurant features a covered patio with seating for 16 and two dining rooms, one overlooking the hustle and bustle of Cumberland Avenue/19th,” Dorris told The Daily Beacon on Oct. 10.
