Tennessee track and field took to College Station, Texas, for the SEC Indoor Championships, leaving with eight total medals. In all, two gold medals were secured, alongside two silver medals and four bronze medals.
To kick it off, Blake Sifferlin and Evan Puckett were able to put up a double podium in the men’s pole vault on Thursday, Feb. 27. Sifferlin earned gold with a personal best height of 5.50 meters, his first clearance above 18 feet. Puckett was close behind in his SEC Championship debut, with a clearance of 5.35 meters, taking bronze.
On Friday, Feb. 28, Donna Douglas finished 6th overall in the women’s weight throw with back-to-back personal records. In this, she was also able to break her own freshman record and broke through to become the top-ranked freshman in the country for the 2025 season.
The Vols finished the championship off strong on Saturday with multiple podiums. In the women’s 60 meter hurdle final, Myreanna Bebe finished with a time of 7.95 seconds, earning gold and the school’s third-ever SEC title in the event. It also put her as the second-best performer in school history, tied for first in college rankings and 17th on the 2025 world list.
Layla Anderson took silver in the event with a personal best of 7.98 seconds. Anderson was also able to podium in the women’s 60 meter dash, taking home bronze with 7.18 seconds.
In the women’s pole vault, Lady Vol Sarah Schmitt earned silver for the second year in a row with a clearance of 4.46 meters, breaking the previous school record. Through this, she is now ranked 10th in the country this season and qualifies for the NCAA Championship.
Both the men’s and women’s 4×400 relays also finished on the podium, each taking bronze. The men’s squad finished with a season-best time of 3:05.16 and the women with their time of 3:27.85.
Now, the team will shift focuses to the NCAA Indoor Championships beginning March 14 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Athletes who post a top-16 NCAA qualifying mark will have the chance to compete.
