The Tennessee Volunteers hosted many high school prospects this weekend for their opening game against Utah State, including several high-profile targets for the 2015 class.

And while this weekend was not the biggest recruiting weekend the Vols will have this season, the number of visitors for the opening game was considerably larger than usual.

Five-star defensive tackle Shy Tuttle, four-star defensive end Kyle Phillips and four-star defensive back Cameron Ordway were just some of the visitors Sunday, and their visits were encouraging signs for the Vols.

Tuttle in particular seemed to enjoy his visit. According to Tuttle’s high school coach, the Lexington, North Carolina, native had “a great time” and “really enjoyed” his trip to Knoxville to watch the Vols. North Carolina and North Carolina State are believed to be the top contenders for Tuttle along with Tennessee.

North Carolina was once considered the favorite to land Tuttle, but it now appears the Vols have momentum and are on top of his list. Tuttle is set to announce his decision at his team’s game Sept. 26.

Both Phillips and Ordway are in-state prospects, and the Vols have made them both high priority targets for the 2015 class. Ordway’s visit to Knoxville was his third in the last three months, and it was Phillips’ first visit since naming his top five schools in early August.

Another in-state prospect, four-star offensive lineman Drew Richmond, has announced that he will commit Sept. 9. The state’s No. 1 overall prospect’s predictions are all over the board, but Ole Miss and Tennessee are generally considered the favorites to land him.
