Rivalry week has brought forth the biggest game in the tri-star state battle.

Tennessee football hosts No. 14 Vanderbilt for the first ranked battle in the 119-game history dating back to 1892. The Vols come in at No. 19 in the College Football Playoff rankings and have the chance to derail the Commodores’ best season in program history.

Diego Pavia will enter with a Heisman Trophy campaign to round out. The journeyman quarterback who has taken over talks of the college football world leads the SEC with 34 total touchdowns this season — 26 in the air and eight on the ground. He is also leading the SEC in yards per game with 325.91 yards per game.

Joey Aguilar stands behind in his offensive commanding abilities. Aguilar leads the conference in passing yards with 285.91 yards per game for 3,145 yards and has 35 consecutive games with 200-plus passing yards.

Tennessee and Vanderbilt are No. 1 and No. 2 in scoring offenses — scoring 42.27 and 38.91 points per game, respectively.

And that sets up Saturday’s rivalry. Nine of the last 10 winners of the matchup have scored 35-plus points. That includes seven of which the winner scored 42-plus points.

Brazzell and Bishop aiming to break 1,000 yards

Chris Brazzell II and DeSean Bishop have been key cogs for Tennessee’s offensive success all year long, and they each rest on the precipice of 1,000-yard seasons entering the last game of the regular season.

After a quiet 2024 season, recording just 29 catches for 333 yards and a pair of touchdowns, Brazzell broke through with his best collegiate season. Through 11 games, he has caught 56 passes for 926 yards, and he sits at a career-high eight touchdown receptions.

Meanwhile, Bishop has proved himself as reliable a running back one can find, with 886 rushing yards and 12 scores himself. Despite being a walk-on, he has emerged as the lead back for a dynamic Tennessee rushing attack that has eclipsed 2,000 rushing yards as a team once again.

If both men have monster games for the Vols, they could each break the 1,000-yard benchmark while dealing a devastating blow to Vanderbilt’s playoff hopes.
