Fifty-seven channels and nothing’s on. Are you reminded of this Bruce

Springsteen tune every time you flip through the T.V. channels? Don’t

despair.

The Teleproductions Board will premiere UT on Tap, March 2, 6:30

p.m. on the University of Tennessee’s VolVision cable channel 33, and for

off-campus, Public Access Channel 12 at 4 p.m.

UT on Tap, which will broadcast for 15 minutes, is scheduled every

first and third Monday of each month.

Derrall Stalvey, chairman, is enthusiastic and predicts that UT on

Tap will entertain and enlighten viewers.

“We want students to be informed of what is taking place on campus, and

show how they can be involved,” Stalvey said.

Furthermore, Stalvey said the edition of new video equipment will help

enhance the quality of the program. “The new video equipment we have

received will improve the video quality of the programs we video,” Stalvey

said.

There are several key issues that will be the focus of UT on Tap

when it premieres. They include the controversial cloning debate held at UT

recently, the men’s and women’s basketball season, Spring Break travel tips

and issues that concern the UT community.

“This is a way for students to become more familiar with issues that take

shape on campus, and it should also give students a better sense of campus

news,” Jenny Revis, committee vice chairman, said.

Ultimately, Stalvey hopes students will take full advantage of the program,

because it is funded by the Student Activity Fee. “Students need to

understand that this is a program funded by them, and is for their

benefit.”

The Teleproductions Board has the responsibility of video taping UT on

Tap. The board is comprised of 22 members. These include not only

broadcast majors, but also a diverse group of college majors from all

fields of experience.

“Interested students who would like to be apart of our committee don’t have

to be broadcast majors. We are looking for committed, hardworking

individuals,” Stalvey said.
