Tropical Storm Gordon won’t rain on UT’s game day parade. 

Gordon made landfall Tuesday evening on the border of Alabama and Mississippi, dropping heavy rains on parts on the South. The tropical storm soon downgraded to a tropical depression as it made its way through Mississippi and Alabama.

Measures on Friday morning totaled over six inches in central and northern Mississippi. Pine Bluff, Arkansas recorded 3.5 inches of rainfall so far in its stint with Gordon. 

Although the National Weather Service is unsure that Gordon will exist much longer as a tropical cyclone, its circulation, which is currently centered near Arkansas, will continue to move northward into the Ozarks before turning northeast into the Mississippi Valley, Ohio Valley and Great Lakes this weekend and early next week. 

As Gordon shifts northeast, a pressure front will move through Tennessee, creating rainy weather for the beginning of next week. The National Weather Service predicts a 90 percent chance on rain on Monday and a 60 percent chance on Tuesday. 

The good news? The ETSU game should remain relatively dry with a 30 percent chance of a stray thunderstorm. Check out this list of things to do if it does rain this weekend.
