With over 25 campus organizations participating, the All Campus Events committee and the Center for Student Engagement presented the winners of Homecoming 2018 on Saturday.
Delta Gamma and Alpha Gamma Rho took first place overall for Homecoming, with Alpha Chi Omega and Delta Tau Delta and Sigma Kappa and Pi Kappa Alpha in second place and third place respectively.
“UT students spent the week building floats, painting banners and playing games and activities all in the spirit of Homecoming,” announcer Jeff Jarnigan said at Saturday’s game against Charlotte.
The All Campus Events board hosted the Tower of Cans on Wednesday, Oct. 31 and raised 32,000 pounds of canned food. The canned food equates to over 20,000 meals provided, according to the FISH Food Pantry. Alpha Omicron Pi and Beta Upsilon Chi and Sigma Kappa and Pi Kappa Alpha tied for first place in the Tower of Cans with Zeta Tau Alpha and Sigma Nu and Alpha Chi Omega and Delta Tau Delta tied for third.
The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships took first place in the Homecoming Office Decorating Contest, with the Food Science Department and UT Libraries Human Resources and Administration earning second and third place respectively.
Freshman in the pre-professional program Lloyd Briggs and freshman studying biological sciences Paige Yates took home Mr. and Mrs. Freshman at the Multicultural Student Life’s annual Mr. and Mrs. Freshman Pageant.
