It’s a commit Vol fans have been waiting nearly a year for. Once signing day 2019 was in the books and fans turned their attention to the 2020 class Tyler Baron was an obvious target. Wednesday, Baron committed and signed with Tennessee over Kentucky and Ohio State.
Baron, the nation’s 112thranked recruit on the 247sports composite, transferred from Nashville’s Ensworth School to Knoxville Catholic during his junior year. Baron’s father, Patrick Abernathy, is on staff at Tennessee working in player development.
Baron ranks out as the No. 5 strong side defensive end in the country, but due to the Vols’ lack of depth at outside linebacker could start his career as an edge pass rusher.
The 6-foot-4, 252-pound prospect is the fifth ranked prospect in the state of Tennessee.
