Man, it’s not over! If Florida loses every game for the rest of the season, and if Georgia can lose all of their games, then South Carolina will have to get beaten by us and another team and Tennessee will win the SEC. It’s as simple as that. Shoot, we’ve got it in the bag.
Just kidding!
No. 21 Purdue at No. 17 Northwestern, 12 p.m. on ESPN
Northwestern has been looking like the team they were in the early 90s. With key wins, they have worked their way up through the top 25.
Not so fast. Drew Brees is the key to this game. He will have a great game but the question is whether his receivers want to have a good game also.
Purdue pulled everything out of the bag of magic tricks last week for a last-second score to win. Expect the same this week for a small upset.
Boilermakers squeeze one out on the road.
No. 19 Auburn at No. 10 Florida, 3:30 p.m. on CBS (regional)
What a matchup! The Gators are coming off a solid win over LSU while the Tigers are trying to recover from their first loss of the season at the hands of Mississippi State.
The Gators will have their offense clicking, as usual, but their problem will be on defense.
Auburn’s Rudi Johnson will try to run all over the Gator front line, and he probably won’t have a problem. It won’t be a pretty day in The Swamp.
Tigers take a chomp out of the Gators.
Mississippi at Alabama, 7 p.m. on ESPN
The Rebels will take their 4-1 record on the road to face the 2-3 Crimson Tide. It might not be the best matchup on paper but it is sure to be one of the best on the field.
Prior to the season, everybody was talking about Deuce McAllister. Maybe they should have been talking about quarterback Romaro Miller. Lately it seems like he has been the center of the offense.
The Tide will give Ole Miss a good run, but the Rebels will prevail.
Ole Miss by a touchdown.
No. 8 Oklahoma at No. 2 Kansas St., 3:30 p.m. on ABC
It’s the battle of the unbeatens. KSU comes into this contest 6-0 and sitting atop the Big 12 North Division. The Sooners are 5-0 and leading the Big 12 South Division.
K-State may be a little overrated. However, the Sooners may be a little underrated after their thrashing of Texas last week. This will be a good old-fashioned grudge match with the winner taking control of the Big 12 and the loser falling out of national championship contention.
Oklahoma in a shootout.
Minnesota at No. 6 Ohio St., 12 p.m. on ESPN2
The Golden Gophers will be trying to disrupt the Buckeyes’ shot at a Big Ten title. But they may be trying without running back Tellis Redmon.
After last week’s Gopher win over Penn State, Redmon was arrested and spent jail time due to driving without a license.
Anyway, the Buckeyes will use every aspect of the field to thrash the Gophers.
Ohio State by more than one Buckeye.
Syracuse at Boston College, 3:30 p.m. on CBS (regional)
The Orangemen and the Eagles have struggled this season, yet both teams enter this weekend’s game with a 3-2 mark.
On the Eagles’ side of the ball, look for running back William Green to pile up some yards on the ground.
As for Syracuse, QB Troy Nunes was just named Big East Co-Offensive Player of the Week due to his game-winning touchdown pass last week over Pittsburgh.
Boston College wins, only because they’re playing at home.
