In an endless pursuit to blend new technologies together, the first mobile phone capable of playing songs in the controversial MP3 format has arrived.
The new Samsung Uproar will offer music fans the first ever phone of its kind, with the abilities of browsing the Web, receiving e-mail and acting as a personal organizer that allows the user to set dates and appointments.
Along with these capabilities, the phone will feature a 64 MB flash memory card to store downloaded digital music.
The phone will allow users to browse the Internet while listening to music on the headset, and in the instance of an incoming call, an audible beep will sound to alert the user.
In a recent press release, a Samsung representative said today’s students have busy class schedules and hectic social lives and that they want and expect electronic devices that serve multiple purposes.
The Uproar comes with a USB cable to allow downloads of music from a personal computer’s hard drive.
The phone will be carried by Sprint PCS and will be available at Sprint Stores as well as other retailers that are a part of the Sprint PCS network.
Sprint will offer a new service called My Music to go along with the phone. The service will allow its users to store up to 2 GB of music which can be streamed or downloaded. A search feature allowing the user to find a song by artist, title or album and a playlist creator will also be available.
The phone offers convenience of music and wireless communications to the public, but it carries a hefty price tag of $399.99.
