If the University of South Carolina tackle football team wins a football game in the city of Gainesville, under Florida state law, there must be a recount of the total points scored. That could take days!
Arkansas at Tennessee, 12:30 p.m. on Jefferson Pilot
The Vols will be wearing the traditional orange jerseys with white pants Saturday while the Razorbacks will sport bandage tape.
The Razorbacks boast three injured quarterbacks and have lost their starting tailback and wide receiver.
Expect QB Casey Clausen to spread the wealth with the receivers. Also look for tailback Travis Henry to explode on the ground.
For the first time in a long time, kicker Alex Walls may be able to kick more extra points than field goals in one game.
Vols enjoy a pig roast.
South Carolina at Florida, 3:30 p.m. on CBS
Who in the world would have thought that this game would decide who goes to the SEC Championship Game?
Well, it will.
USC running back Derek Watson must be productive and the Gamecocks must score early and often.
Expect the game to be close for the first half but QB Rex Grossman and the Florida receivers to light up the second half against USC’s strong defense.
Gamecocks drown in The Swamp.
Georgia at Auburn, 7:30 p.m. on ESPN
The Tigers are trying to keep hopes of an SEC Championship Game appearance alive. And to do that, they’ve got to beat the Dawgs.
Chances are good with running back Rudi Johnson on Auburn’s side. The powerful junior college transfer had dominated the SEC and will probably dominate Saturday.
Georgia sports a good rushing defense and of course, Quincy Carter. But even if Carter passes for 300 yards, it could be lights out for UGA because they simply can’t win the big games.
Tigers sink teeth into Bulldogs.
Nebraska at Kansas State, 7 p.m. on FOX Sports Net
A Cornhusker win will seal a spot in the Big 12 title game and keep their national hopes alive. But K-State is trying to prove that they’re no fluke.
No dice my friends.
The Wildcats will have no answer to Eric Crouch and the Nebraska option package. And it might get a little ugly if the Husker defense can stop State’s QB Jonathan Beasley and his running skills.
Oh yeah, KSU is 1-18 against top-10 teams since Bill Snyder has been coach.
The Big Red Machine steams past the Men in Purple.
Oklahoma at Texas A&M, 1 p.m. on ABC
This could be the best game of the week. Why, you ask?
Sooner QB Josh Heupel has taken command of the Heisman race, and rightfully so. He has completed almost 68 percent of his passes in leading the powerful Sooners to the top spot in all the land.
The Aggies, however, have a quarterback of their own in Mark Farris. He has completed 62 percent of his passes and will be looking for receiver Robert Ferguson, if he plays. Ferguson suffered an ankle injury last week.
A&M is 0-8 versus consensus No. 1 teams. However, Oklahoma is 0-4 in College Station while the Aggies are 64-6-1 at home under R.C. Slocum.
The 12th Man gives Texas A&M the major upset.
Southern Mississippi at Alabama-Birmingham, 3:30 p.m.
This game is too close to call, with the winner receiving one electoral vote.
It’s the first time UAB and Southern Miss have ever met and it should be a dandy. Especially on the defensive front The Golden Eagles rank third in the nation, UAB ranks 14th.
Southern Miss beat Alabama earlier this year (21-0), and played Tennessee close (19-16). However, the Blazers upset LSU a week before the Tigers upset the Vols. Get it?
Golden Eagles soar.
