What happens when people stop being nice and start being real? Well, you can find out tonight when the cast members of two “The Real World” seasons come to campus to talk about their experiences on the show.

Tonight is the night to set all the gossip straight and find out what really went on from the cast members of the Las Vegas and Chicago seasons themselves. Irulan, Theo, Keri and Steven will be answering those questions that everyone is dying to know.

“The audience will write down their questions, and they will respond to them,” said Ron Laffitte, director of student activities. “It’s usually all about being on the show.”

For the past couple of years, Campus Entertainment Board has brought the most recent cast members to campus for student fans to drill them.

“Our students really are watching ‘The Real World,'” Laffitte said. “Audience members who watched the show are able to see them in person and ask how certain situations were handled. It’s always a huge hit.”

By attending the event, students will gain not only insight about their favorite show but also an educational lesson.

“There is a lot of education to be gained from the show in terms of how to get along with people of different backgrounds and cultures,” Laffitte said.

Many students tune in on a weekly basis to watch either “The Real World” or other reality television shows. At least once a day on any given station, a reality television series will unfold in front of millions of Americans in their living rooms. Although the situation may be unrealistic, the fact that relatively normal people are being put to the test draws the interest of viewers.

“People watch reality shows, because it’s real-life stuff,” Laffitte said. “There is something about being live and not rehearsed that catches our eyes. People can also relate to these real-life situations, because the people on ‘The Real World’ are college students.”
