Monday night brought excitement and anticipation to campus as “The Real World” cast members Irulan, Keri, Steven and Theo took the stage.

Audience members came to this Campus Entertainment Board event with one common goal – to see their favorite cast member and to hear them dish on the experience. The four cast members gave the audience exactly what they wanted – gossip, gossip and more gossip about their roommates.

“In the day, Trishelle was a sweet, Southern belle, but at night after a couple of drinks, she starts to get that look in her eye,” Irulan said.

The topic on many students’ minds, however, was if their favorite member is single. Irulan and Theo received this question from their fans, and both have significant others.

Irulan is currently living in California with Alton, one of her roommates from Las Vegas, and Theo recently met his match when he went to have his car washed.

Once the question and answer forum ended, audience members were placed into two lines for the two seasons and said hello to each cast member. Many students at this time posed for pictures with their favorite cast member. Theo also took this time to promote his new clothing line by offering T-shirts to the crowd for a low price.

As students headed home, many had their dreams fulfilled.

“Theo seemed really nice on the show, and he appeared that way tonight,” said Kisha Nixon, a senior in African-American studies. “He seems laid-back. I liked the event, because you get to meet them and talk to them and get the real low-down.”

On the other hand, some fans had their dreams crushed.

“I love Irulan; she’s so sexy,” said Damond Cambell, a freshman in business. “I was prepared to give her my number, but my dream just went down the drain.

“I thought the event was really cool,” he continued. “I watch every episode, even the reruns on Sundays.”

When the madness had ended, The Daily Beacon sat down with the four cast members to make them answer even more questions.

The four were flattered and shocked that so many people attended the event.

“I had no idea that so many people watched the show,” Irulan said.

Some of the questions presented to the cast members – especially to Steven – were unexpected, but they dealt with them in the best way possible.

“One threw me off for a minute, but it was funny,” Steven said. “Tonight I learned not to mess with Irulan.”

The cast members all admitted to watching themselves on the show.

Steven said that he likes to watch, because it makes him laugh. Irulan, however, watches in order to remember the good times as well as to see what went on when she wasn’t around.

Irulan also admitted that she enjoys watching reality dating shows such as “Elimidate” because the people on the show are hysterical.

“Those shows are all a race to see who can make the biggest asses out of themselves,” Steven added.

For students who may be considering a spot on “The Real World,” the cast members gave their own piece of advice.

“Be sure it’s what you want to do because you don’t really know what you’re getting into,” Theo said.

“Start off by banding together to ask for more money,” Keri said. “Do it for the experience of trying something new. Few people have the opportunity to see themselves on TV and to change what you hate or keep the things you love.” Keri said the experience was not that different from everyday life.

“It’s a normal environment,” she said. “You’re just living your life.”
