While this weekend might seem slow at a glance, there are a few new movies coming out. Two highly anticipated sequels to fan favorite movies are releasing, as well as an intriguing documentary. If you love comic books, anime, or a good documentary, this is the weekend for you.
Glass
The third film in M. Night Shyamalan’s superhero trilogy “Glass” finally hits theaters on Friday. Fans have been looking forward to this film ever since the twist ending of 2017’s “Split” (spoiler alert) revealed that the film was a secret sequel to 2000’s “Unbreakable.” “Glass” combines the characters of the past two films. The film takes place after the events of “Split,” with David Dunn (Bruce Willis) pursuing Kevin Wendell Crumb(James McAvoy) and his alternate superhuman personality “The Beast”. Elijah Price (Samuel L. Jackson), also called Mr. Glass, sees an opportunity in Crumb and decides to team up with him to take down Dunn and become a real-world super villain team. “Glass” also stars Sarah Paulson as Dr. Ellie Staple, a doctor who thinks that Dunn and the villains don’t actually have powers and are mentally ill. Any fan of comic book movies looking for a different take on the genre will want to see “Glass” this weekend.
Dragon Ball Super: Broly
The eagerly awaited continuation of the “Dragon Ball Super” anime “Dragon Ball Super: Broly” hit US theaters this weekend. This is the 20th film in the franchise, following 2013’s “Battle of Gods” and 2015’s “Resurrection F”. Ever since the anime series went into hiatus in March of last year, “Dragon Ball” fans have been hungry for new content from the series. Not only does this new film continue the story of “Dragon Ball,” but it makes fan-favorite character Broly a canon part of the series. The story involves series protagonists Goku and Vegeta encountering Broly, learning how their pasts are connected and eventually fighting, with the fate of the universe hanging in the balance. “Dragon Ball Super: Broly” features the original voice cast from the series, such as Sean Schemmel as Goku, Christopher Sabat as Vegeta and Vic Mignogna as Broly. Fans of “Dragon Ball” will want to head to theaters this weekend and catch “Dragon Ball Super: Broly” before its limited run ends.

The film is narrated by Arnold Schwarzenegger: actor, governor but, most importantly, environmentalist. Any fan of documentaries or the ocean will not want to miss this rare opportunity to dive in this Thursday.
