Spring fashion is taking a fresh turn this season from ultra-feminine tops to Asian-inspired ensembles. The must-haves for the spring season come in a wide selection.
Lace is huge this season and can be seen on shirts as well as purses and shoes. Wearing lace is perfect for the ultra-feminine look, but remember not to overdo it. Too much lace can be busy and overpower a great look.
“Bubble skirts, Bermuda shorts and short shorts are very, very big,” Obligato sales associate Julie Beeler said. These garments are a wonderful and easy way to give your spring wardrobe flair.
As for tops, Brittany Tipton of Obligato says loose-fitting lavender, gray and brown solids are great for spring. Flirty tops accented with lace are great and can be paired with Bermuda shorts and open-toed flats to create a great laid back look for spring.
Trouser shorts are another popular spring style and come in an array of prints. From solids to plaids, the variety is endless, and can appeal to each individual’s style. If shorter shorts are not your thing, then Bermuda shorts are an alternative. They are longer but still create a great spring look.
Elena McFadden, sales associate at Serendipity, said white denim is really in this spring. White denim is a great fresh look and can be paired with black to follow another spring trend, black and white. A touch of gold or silver can add a little shimmer to the black and white look. Gold and silver are still in for spring and can turn a day ensemble into a night ensemble in minutes.
Asian-inspired kimono tops are a staple in spring fashion. The sleek silk fabric adorned with blossom prints and beads is sure to accent a spring wardrobe. Wearing a kimono top with a pair of the season’s popular straight jeans and a stacked heel sandal is a sure way to score a fabulous spring look.
Borrowed from the boys, clean-cut military-inspired clothing is huge this spring. Short-sleeve button downs, khaki shorts and military jackets are essential in creating the uniform look. The uniform look can be casual or dressy; it’s all in what you pair the clothing with. Wearing the military look head to toe can be too much, but using certain garments adds the flair needed to create the desired look.
Accessories are great when completing an outfit. “Very long necklaces are in,” Julie Beeler of Obligato said. Another accessory trend is drop necklaces which can be worn with almost every outfit. They are simple and elegant and can add that extra something to an outfit without overdoing it.
