For a toe-tapping twist on Knoxville’s live music scene, check out the
Laurel Theatre for an inspiring performance by Celtic sensations,
Finnegan’s aWake.
The band, which formed in 1996, specializes in the music of the British
Isles by adding new variations to traditional tunes. With its base in Irish
dance music, the songs are sure to provide the heart and energy to kick off
the semester in style. The magical, spirited music emanates from the many
unique instruments, having a contagious affect on all who listen.
“There is something about Celtic music that touches you deep inside, ” said
Smith-Warford. “For certain people it just touches you and you fall in
love.”
The band consists of Russell Hopper on fiddle, Bob Patrick on bouzouki,
mandolin, tenor banjo, and whistle; Mark Warford on guitar and tenor banjo;
Terry Schomer on bouzouki, mandolin, bodhran, and bones; and Wendy
Smith-Warford on vocals.
