Ariel Massengale's hot second half lifts the Lady Vols over Stanford, 59-40

After three straight seasons losing to Stanford before Christmas, the Lady Volunteers head coach and players can go into the holidays with a cheerful spirit.

Senior point guard Ariel Massengale hit all four of her threes in the second half and scored a game-high 18 points in No. 11 Tennessee's 59-40 win at home over No. 7 Stanford on Saturday afternoon.

Notebook: Defense, Graves' fast start propel Lady Vols past Stanford

As the game turned: The Tennessee Lady Volunteers came out clicking on all cylinders against No. 7 Stanford, jumping out to an early 8-0 lead. The Cardinal quickly answered, though, cutting the lead to one.

Then junior Bashaara Graves got her hand in the passing lane, and deflected a Stanford pass. She didn't stop there, as she dove on the floor to corral the loose ball, and kicked it up ahead to Ariel Massengale for an easy layup.
