Program brings alumni back "home"

Whether you are a Vol fan, UT alumnus or just like the University of
Tennessee -- everyone's welcome to attend Alumni Summer College, which will
be held Aug. 7-11.

The program provides an opportunity for people to keep in touch with the
university while learning in a fun environment. Steve Catlett, the UT
system director of Alumni Affairs, said the program is a "friend-raising
effort" with a focus on "edutainment."

People come from all over the country to attend the summer program, said
Amy Williams, campus director of Alumni Affairs. Alumni status is not a
requirement to participate. The program is open to all interested people.
The class, which averages roughly 100 people, allows interaction with the
faculty on a fairly informal basis, Williams said.

"The program really gives the alumni a chance to come back for a week, and
we can showcase our faculty and the campus," Williams said ...
