The Campus Entertainment Board has extended the deadline for band entries
for the 13th annual Battle of the Bands.
Each year, CEB sponsors a student music competition called Battle of the
Bands. The contest features six-eight chosen top-quality local bands that
perform in an entertaining event. The new deadline for Battle of the Bands
is Monday, March 27.
The annual competition will have some new features this year. CEB has
contacted and booked professional judges that range from disk jockeys to
marketing coordinators of radio.
Dana Miller, student activities adviser, said that CEB wants to make this
year's event worthwhile to the students and the judges. She hopes that the
deadline extension will attract a greater number of bands for audition that
will make for a more diverse and entertaining event.
Miller also said that the event would also hold a "mini-carnival." The
Travel and Recreation Committee will sponsor inflatable games and local
vendors have been hired to sell food and merchandise during the show. CEB
has also gained donations from local businesses to give away as door
prizes. Miller said that the members had a goal of $500 in donations.
Comedian Wali Collins (MTV Half Comedy Hour) has been hired to emcee
the event. With all the activities and great bands, look for Battle of the
Bands to be an entertaining show.
Battle of the Bands will take place on April 27 at 7 p.m. in the Aquatic
Center.
